Volunteering Roles

ADMIN SUPPORT


Our Admin support workers cover a variety of office based duties from data inputting to working alongside the Volunteer Co-ordinator and Service Manager to plan events.

You must be reliable and able to offer at least 4 hours one day a week. Full training in our office procedures will be given. All of our Admin volunteers undergo a DBS Check.

 

HELPLINE LISTENER


This role involves taking calls from those looking for confidential listening support, further information or referral to the centre.

Helpline Listeners must be able to complete six sessions of sexual violence awareness training. If at the end of the training we, and you, still feel this is the right role for you you will be paired with a Mentor who will work alongside you for the first three months.

We ask that you commit to, at least, two 2 hour duties a month on the helpline and attend a monthly 2 hour meeting.

All of our Helpline Listeners will undergo a DBS check.

The helpline currently runs at the following times: Monday 1pm-3pm, Tuesday 10am-12pm, Wednesday 7.30-9.30pm, Thursday 7.30-9.30pm, Friday 7.30-9.30pm, Saturday 4-6pm.

 

LIVE CHAT


Live Chat supporters offer a confidential listening service, further information or referral to the centre via our online chat.

Live Chat supporters must be able to complete six sessions of sexual violence awareness training. If at the end of the training we, and you, still feel this is the right role for you you will be paired with a Mentor who will work alongside you for the first three months.

COUNSELLOR

Volunteer Counsellor or Placement Counsellor

We offer 1:1 counselling support to survivors of sexual violence and have opportunities for trainee and qualified counsellors. Our volunteer counsellors must have completed or be completing at least a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling or equivalent.

All volunteer counsellors must complete six sessions of Sexual Violence Awareness Training and undergo a DBS check.

We ask that you are able to commit to a minimum caseload of two clients (raising to 3 when you feel ready) and commit to volunteering with the centre for at least 24 months. We provide in-house fortnightly supervision with our Clinical Lead and a monthly team meeting or CPD opportunity that you are expected to attend.

FUNDRAISER

Dorset Rape Crisis Support Centre is growing and developing its support services and volunteer roles. A new team of Volunteer Fundraisers are needed to help plan a range of fundraising events over the next 12 months. This might be bag-packing at the local supermarket to a cake sale at a local school;; planning a quiz night to organising a sponsored event.

Training will be provided and an induction where you will learn more about our history, our work and the role. EVENTS TEAM

Do you have good communication and organisational skills and want to make a difference to the lives of people affected by sexual violence? Now is an exciting time to be joining our growing organisation. We a developing a team of Volunteer Event Organisers to help us raise awareness throughout Dorset and further a field of the specialist support services available to survivors of sexual violence.

Our volunteers get involved in a number of different events such as Besitval and Bourne Free to organising our annual charity ball.

Training will be provided and an induction where you will learn more about our history, our work and the role.
